Book 1, series 1, Chapter 4

 Chapter 4

         Leilani screamed when the wasp-like drones dug up from under the earthy, grass speckled ground, charging right at her, Midnight sprang into action, and before the drones reached Leilani a force field appeared in front of Leilani, blocking the drones way. "Let me out now! Or I will burn your face off!! Along with your bug brained drones!" Firestone demanded, pounding on the force field, "your not quite in position for threats" the pixie teased, and Leilani once again screamed when the drones dug into the other side of the force field, Midnight immediately took her force field down and tried to get the drones away.

         What can I do!? Gaze thought, he couldn't fight! All he had was himself and his mind, what help could he be!? Gaze, not knowing what to do, ran over and tried to pry the drones away. Wait! The visor, that must be how he's commanding the drones, if we get the visor... Gaze realized. "Midnight the visor!-" Gaze yelled, he gasped with surprise when two drones knocked him down, they seized his arms and two more seized his legs, holding him down. "Very clever" the cloaked pixie said slyly, Midnight looked over to Gaze and looked back to Leilani, the child was horror struck. Gaze knew what Midnight could do, she could set off a smoke bomb and leap into a shadow, but that would leave Leilani helpless, and Gaze couldn't get out of his position. Midnight took a deep breath, she tossed a gadget that Gaze thought was a smoke bomb, but appeared to be another force field that encased Leilani's satchel, then she threw a smoke bomb on the ground. When the wispy smoke disappeared Midnight was know where to be seen. "Shadow Jumper" the cloaked pixie scowled, Gaze looked around the shaded area, Midnight could jump out of any shadow, but he knew she would jump out of one next to the cloaked pixie, and take the visor. Drones scratched and tried to grab hold of the satchel, and Leilani tried to get the drones off Gaze, meanwhile, Gaze watched curiously as the cloaked pixie plucked a small bead like gadget off his belt, tapping holograms formed from his visor, he threw the gadget into the air and it started to levitate, a few clicking sounds was heard from the bead sized gadget and a crystalline shield formed around it, then it launched into a shadow, leaving a trace like a pebble falling into water.

         Courageously, Leilani grabbed a drone, avoiding it's snapping claws she used the drone to hit one of the drones that was keeping Gaze's arm down, his arm was freed and soon his other. Then she did the same to the drones on his legs, Gaze thanked Leilani, then tried to get the drones away from her satchel. Firestone slammed her hands on her bubble like prison and yelled "Leilani! What makes your satchel all of a sudden so important that a creepy dude with drones would want it!!?"

          Leilani tilted her head "no one was supposed to know!" she cried, Gaze's attention was sent back to the cloaked pixie when he heard a scream, "Midnight!" he yelled, the bead sized drone had appeared back out of the shadows with Midnight in a force field like Firestone and Celestial, "now that your away from the floor, no more Shadow Jumping" the pixie teased.

         "I was waiting for you to get separated" the pixie continued, and a bigger, faster drone appeared out of thin air, Leilani screamed when it pushed her and Gaze aside, and smashed Midnights bubble around the satchel like it was glass. Then it disappeared again, and appeared right next to the smirking cloaked pixie, he took the satchel and picked the map out of it, tossing the satchel and staring at the map like it was priceless. 

        "She will be pleased to have what she wanted, as well as two presents" the pixie said, glancing at Firestone and Celestial. Someone was planning on hurting them! Gaze thought, astonished, he should have told Midnight! 

        "Too bad for you, you won't be controlling any more drones" a new voice said, and the cloaked pixie fell to the floor like he had been kicked, his visor floating in mid air. The cloaked pixie recovered very quickly and he touched his face where his visor had been. Alarmed he pulled his hood down lower and grabbed hold of the large teleporting drone, "what ever! I have what really matters!" the cloaked pixie said before vanishing along with the large drone, and the map.

        "Crystal! What are you doing here!?" Midnight exclaimed, staring at a tall, grandeur tree with dark green leaves where the shape of a pixie started to form.

        "Oh, you know, saving you" Crystal replied, now fully visible and more serious she said "who was that? What were they trying to get?" Firestone huffed, saying "how about you get us out, and then we can ask girly over there what in the world of myth that scroll was!"

        "Firestone! Cool down!" Midnight exclaimed, "how about literally, as well? All this sweating is ruining my make up" Celestial said, fanning herself before yelping when Firestone wrestled with her, ruining Celestial's hair.

        "Where did he go?" Leilani meekly asked, "he probably didn't go far, nothing could teleport as far as from the forest to really anywhere else, like how the drone had only teleported from the enclosure to the pixie, but if he could, he probably would have had the drone teleport far away with the map, and meet it there later, only the Portal Pixie could use far distance teleportation." Gaze stated.

       "Crystal, grab the visor and show it to me" Midnight said, and Crystal sighed, showing Midnight the visor. "What kind of technology is this?" Midnight breathed, she pulled her goggles down, typing on a teal hologram that looked like a keyboard.

        "What are you doing?" Firestone asked, who was now brutaly sitting on her sister, Celestial shape-shifted into some kind of creature that could stretch weirdly, grunting, she pulled her self from underneath. 

        "I'm hacking into his visor" replied Midnight, proudly. "And you didn't think to do that earlier?!" Firestone complained, "he had a lock on his visor, now that it's off he has no control and the lock was released, so I can hack into it now" Midnight continued, and all the force fields encasing them disappeared.

        "Why did you take so long to get the visor, Crystal? Because I knew you were there since the beginning" Midnight asked, Crystal sighed "I was trying to read his mind, how did you know I was there?" Crystal calmly asked, "I saw leaves stir in one area, with my goggles on they analyzed them as a foot impression, and when I was in the shadow, you look invisible from all sides but below, I saw the bottom of your shoe and few other silhouettes of un-invisable features that shown it was a pixie that can't be seen while looking from above, forward, behind or on the sides. Invisibility is more complicated then you think. Also just knowing you, you would have followed us" Midnight explained.

       Midnight looked over to Leilani "you have a lot of explaining," Leilani mumbled under her breath "It's nothing." Midnight exhaled a breathe "It's obviously not 'nothing' if we just got attacked by some guy, who, not to mention was also talking about taking Firestone and Celestial with him!" "and who is this 'she' he was talking about, not to mention you and Gaze could have gotten really hurt!" 

       Leilani looked over to Gaze, who nodded encouragingly, she sighed "I wanted to keep it a secret until we found out more, but Gaze wanted to tell you."

       "It was a map, it had all the elemental symbols on it, me and Gaze thought someone was trying to get to all of the elemental pixie's, and that it was a map of where they all lived because the Fire and Shape Shifting symbols were on the Glistening Garden where the twins live" Leilani blurted, panting after saying so much.

       "Not to mention I might have had a vision about the Elemental Pixie's" Gaze sheepishly pointed out, "what!?" Everyone, except Crystal yelled, and Crystal looked like she would do a face palm.

       "You got a vision and didn't tell me?!" Midnight said, and Gaze sucked in a breathe "I didn't want to worry you, I was going to tell you, but it was all happening so fast," "did anything that happened right now happen in your vision?" Midnight asked. 

      "No, but I know it leads up to it, if what I saw is in our future, it has to do with the Elemental pixie's, and that cloaked pixie must have to do with it as well." Gaze said, he explained what he saw in his vision, and Midnight took notes in a little notebook.

      She sighed "well, if that happens in our future, then we know what we have to do, we have to round up the Elemental pixie's. They'll be stronger together then alone, and we'll have a better chance to defeat the pixie. And what it would seem, I don't think that cloaked pixie is alone, he was extremely strong, but I think there's a more powerful foe."

      "What about girly over there? We can handle it, but she's way too young for something like that, and her mother's a worry wort" Firestone said, pointing to Leilani, "besides, she'd just be a distraction and pull us down."

      "I won't I promise! Besides, I'm involved with this too! I was also attacked, besides, I found the map anyway" Leilani complained, looking at Gaze for support. He sighed "Leilani, they're right, your only eleven, your mother needs you, and I don't know what I'd do if you got hurt," Gaze felt guilty when Leilani's lower lip started to quiver.

      "I promise I won't-" Leilani yelped when her arm was grabbed, Firestone pulled her and she tried to break free, but it was no use, once Firestorm had a grip, she wouldn't let go "your going to your mother whether you like it or not! Besides, your complaints are getting on my nerves!" "But-!" Leilani cried, and Gaze watched helplessly as Firestone launched into the air, bringing Leilani with her.

       "Don't you think she was a bit too hard on her?" Gaze asked Midnight, later on, they were interrupted by a squeal of excitement. "She's letting me go!" Leilani exclaimed, pushing through teal and dark green speckled bushes, followed by Firestone who was grumbling "what kind a mother does she have?! One day she's crying for mercy from the Alcahornes, the next she's leting her daughter go on some crazy mission! A eleven year old wouldn't survive a day in the Willowing Woods! Not even a fifthteen year old! She's lost her mind!..."

      "I'm so excited, this is going to be awesome!" Leilani squealed. Gaze was about to congratulate her when Firestone yelled "If your eaten by a Timber Wolf, or step on a Poisonous Toe Tickler, I'm going to have NOTHING to do with it! NOTHING!" And she slumped against a tree, mumbling angrily to herself.

      "Firestone kind of has a point- in someway, you have to be very careful" Midnight told Leilani, but the child nodded, cheeks blushing with excitement she said "so, when are we leaving?"
