Book 1, Series 1, Chapter 1

 Prologue

A pixie sat at a desk covered with scrolls and maps of all different sizes, mumbling stuff as she traced her finger on one of the scrolls.

“Useless!!” She yelled, flinging all the scrolls off the desk in frustration. Watching them as they fell to the stone-covered ground. She sighed, “What is it?”

She moved over to a wall, where she picked up a couple ninja throwing stars and began throwing them at the target so fast, she already had five nailed into the wood before the male Pixie had even started walking up to her from a stone door.

“Well,” he said, glancing at the scrolls now spread across the floor. He cleared his throat, “We may have found something-”

“Well get to the point already!” The female pixie picked up three ninja stars and threw them all at the same time, hitting three targets right in the center. “I’m getting impatient Tyson!”

Tyson cleared his throat again. “I mean we may have found something- And just because I said that doesn’t mean we got it…”

The female pixie heaved a sigh that was more like a growl. “Then why bother coming to me!?”

“Why I ‘bothered’ you, was because of this.” He held out a round silver device the size of a pea. “We set these out on every house in every town of the Willowing Woods -I can assure you it was no easy task-, and this one found something.”

He tapped the device twice and a blue hologram appeared. Tyson touched the screen, zooming in on a young female Wood pixie running into an alleyway between two trees. She sat down on the grass and pulled a scroll out from a chocolate brown satchel. After looking around to make sure no one was watching her, she opened the scroll.

“Well how do we know if that’s the one if we can’t see it?” The female pixie asked, quite annoyed and in the mind-set that watching the hologram was a waist of her time.

“Because earlier I upgraded this one and…” He taped the screen once more, but in a very confusing pattern, and where there was once the back of the scroll, there was now a see-through scroll. The other side was now visible.

They continued to watch as the little girl pulled out a magnifying glass. She held it up to the sun, and began angling from the sun to the scroll, creating some sort of pattern with the light. Next, the light now on the scroll glowed, and the little girl held her hands up to her eyes so that she didn’t get light in her eyes. Then she watched with wide eyes as the scroll began changing. The original scroll disappeared and a new layer appeared in it’s place, being spread on it like paint being spread on a piece of paper. What used to be a scroll on gemstones was now a complete map of the Pixie’s territory! Suddenly, the Wood pixie’s head snapped up, and she quickly stuffed the scroll and the magnifying glass back in her chocolate brown bag, running back out of the alleyway. The hologram disappeared.

The female pixie collapsed in her chair, still wondering if it all was real.

“After all these years,” She whispered, running her hands through her hair. Then she sprang out of her seat. “You have to get me that map!!!” She pounded her fist on the table.

“See, that’s the problem.” The male pixie said, biting his lip. “The little girl still has it and-”

“I want that map!!!” The female yelled, “It’s either you go or I go.”

“But- She’s just a little girl…”

“I. Want. That. Map, Tyson!!”

“Fine,” Tyson sighed, he knew that if the female pixie went, who knew what she would do. But, as he walked out of the room, he turned around and said, “Just remember, we have a deal. I could easily walk out this door and never come back.” Then he walked out of the door.

                                            Chapter 1

Gaze hummed to himself, flying around his small kitchen like area, grabbing all the supplies he needed to start his day with a nice breakfast. He planned on making a simple loaf of bread with honey he had collected at the market the other day. Gaze would have loved to just go to the market then, so he didn’t have to make the loaf of bread himself, but Gaze was shy, and he tried to stay away from crowds and attention as much as he could. He already barely worked up the courage to buy the honey.

Gaze is a young adult Galaxy pixie with a shy personality. He has strait hair that is jet black with tiny white dots that look very similar to stars, and a baby blue Galaxy. Gaze had always preferred to wear simple, cozy clothes, or just anything that wouldn’t attract attention. Gaze was born with his left eye blind, and his other had blurry vision. His friend, Midnight, made him some glasses to help with his right eye, and although there was nothing that could be done about his left eye, Gaze would still be forever grateful to have his sight in his right. Gaze has -Like all pixies- long, pointed ears, and wings. His wings are the same colors as his hair. The baby blue color in his hair meant he was a Future Seeker. A Future Seeker is a pixie who gets visions of the future, but Gaze is the only known Future Seeker, and as far as he knew, his visions came randomly. It appeared to him that he only got a vision if it was something important, and it was more like fragments of the future, or some sort of puzzle he had to solve. What great help his future visions would be.

Gaze replayed the instructions for the bread in his mind. He was a complete book worm, and he read all the scrolls he could so much they were pretty much glued inside his head. There was just nothing he liked more then to read a nice scroll.

Soon, Gaze had a nice loaf of bread and a jar of honey siting on his table. He was just about to spread the honey on a slice when a couple pounds on the door alerted him. Who would knock so early? Gaze cautiously made his way over to his rounded wooden door. He paused for just a second before opening it.

“Hey’a Gaze!” A pixie with wavy pastel hair and a loud voice greeted.

Gaze smiled at his two out-going friends, Celeste and Neptune. Both are -Just like Gaze-  Galaxy Pixies.

There are three different types of pixies known to exist in the world of Myth. Wood Pixies, Ice Pixies, and Galaxy Pixies. Though they all have their differences, the Galaxy Pixies are the rarest, it is assumed that that is because most Galaxy Pixies have stronger powers, or abilities. Ice Pixies have the power to control ice, snow, anything that freezes. Where as Wood Pixies can control trees, make plants grow, and with practice, can talk to the nature around them. But Galaxy Pixies have different powers such as invisibility, shadow jumping, and many more. A Galaxy Pixie’s power is known because of the color of their hair, it is called their ‘Galaxy.’ The reason why they call their hair color their Galaxy is because their hair looks like it would if you were to be watching the starry-night sky, but with one other color added in the mix. Each color stands for a different ability.

Celeste had always been different, her loud, entertaining personality matched with her explosion of pastel. She has pastel pink, baby blue, and lavender coating her soft curled hair that reached a little below her shoulders. She wore a dress with lace trim on the poofy sleeves rocking the same pastel colors, and a mint green vest with a poorly tied silky white bow in the middle. She wore a pastel yellow belt with a white belt buckle, but left the ends of her vest untucked, showing her care free style. She wore no jewelry what so ever, but mint green sandals with straps that went up to her knees completed the look. Like normal, Celeste’s wide eyes that faded from blue to purple to pink showed pure excitement. Like all Pixies, Celeste has long, pointed ears, and wings. Most Galaxy Pixies have different wings from each other, but while most have wings the same colors as their hair, Celeste has white puffy wings that look just like clouds, making her different from any other Pixie. But, like any other normal Pixie, Celeste does have a power. It is known that she has the ability to create big clouds of mist, and sometimes create actual clouds.

Neptune, on the other hand, isn’t as hyper and attention hungry as Celeste, but loves meeting new people, and is known for his big apatite. He has short, curly hair that is -like a normal Galaxy Pixie’s- black with tiny white dots that sparkle like stars, with an orange and sky blue Galaxy. Although it is said that Galaxy Pixie’s with an orange Galaxy are powerless, Neptune never appeared to notice. He wore an orange button up shirt with long sleeves that bunched up at the ends because of light blue cloth wrapped around his wrists, and a sky blue turtleneck scarf. He wore siepa brown pants and shiny black shoes with dark gray soles and white socks. A small meteor charm hanging on his pants -which he called his Good Luck charm- completed the look. Although Neptune wasn’t that dressy, he was at least dressier then Gaze -who was currently wearing a simple light blue and dark blue sweater vest with a white long sleeve shirt underneath, black pants, and brown shoes.- Neptune has long pointy ears, and long wings that curled at the tips, these were the same colors as his hair.

“Oh- Hi guys,” Gaze stuttered, still wondering what they were doing up so early. Although they were his friends, Gaze still had the tendency to over think what he was going to say, afraid of what they would say back.

“Oh Gaze, is that how you greet your friends?” Neptune replied. Gaze could hear that Neptune was just teasing him, but it made Gaze hurt none the less.

“Oh- Gaze! We have the most wonderful surprise at my house!” Celeste said, her eyes bouncing around excitedly as she clapped her hands together. “You must come right now! We need to go get everyone else!!”

“What-what is it?” Gaze asked, trying -And failing- to looked excited for his friends.

“Oh Gaze, you’re so silly!” Was Celeste’s reply. “I would have told you by now if it wasn’t a surprise.”

Gaze nodded slowly, looking at his feet. He still needed to finish eating, but… They just looked so excited, and he didn’t want to disappoint them… Gaze let out a small, quiet sigh.

“Ok, where to?”

. . .

It wasn’t too long before they made it to the town entrance, which was just a dirt pathway with a sturdy sign saying: Glistening Garden Town. Walk with caution.

If anything, Gaze would have lived in the actual town, but when he first moved out of his parent’s house, he wanted somewhere private, somewhere where he could study in peace. Besides, with all the lights in the Willowing Wood’s towns, he wouldn’t be able to star gaze.

the Willowing Woods is the Wood pixie’s and Galaxy pixie’s territory. It has several towns, some of which are in meadows, and some of which are in the Willowing Woods itself. The Galaxy pixies and Wood pixies have a sort of symbiotic relationship. The Wood pixies form tree-like houses with their magic and grow the crops, while the Galaxy pixies defend the towns, since the Willowing Woods is an extremely dangerous place to live. Of course, there is royalty, but the pixies don’t have Kings. Instead, they have Queens. The ‘Kings’ are the generals, and still have lots of power, but the Queen is who’s in charge. The Willowing Wood’s do have police, but instead they are simply called soldiers, and they normally march around the towns in groups of two.

Gaze looked around the forest with watchful eyes. Although he could hear birds chirping, and beautiful flowers sprouted bushes here and there, and over all, one would think of the Willowing Woods as a calming, beautiful place, Gaze knew that the forest held some of the most dangerous plants known. It was as if the plants were whispering to him, saying, “Just touch me, I’m definitely not poisonous.” It gave him goose bumps from head to toe.

“Hurry up Gaze!” Celeste called, flying through the pathway as if she had no worries in the world. “We’re almost there! And if we take too long, I’m going to die from excitement!”

Neptune skipped through the pathway almost as carefree as Celeste, but Gaze could still see that he was a little nervous. That made two of them.

Soon, they had made it to the Glistening Garden Town, and the dirt streets were just as crowded as they normally were. Neptune -as normal- said that they should eat something while they were at the town market, and, although Gaze protested, they did. Gaze felt just as nervous as he always did, but of course, it was soon over -mainly because of Celeste rushing them- and they were on their way to…

“Where exactly are we going?” Gaze asked, his eyes darting around as he tried to fly through the crowded streets without looking at anyone. “I mean, I knew we were going to the Glistening Gar-”

“Oh! Right!” Celeste interrupted, “We’re going to Midnight’s Workshop- Then we’ll go to Firestone’s house- Hope to find Crystal somewhere- And then we’ll go to Celestial’s house!”

“I think you can see why we got up so early now.” Neptune added.

Gaze defiantly could. Gear-turners -Also known as Tecnopaths- needed to make something so that other pixies didn’t have to travel just to tell their friends or relatives something. Fortunately for them, they didn’t need to go to Firestone’s house. They could already hear Firestone’s voice echoing through the Moonrising Workshop, where Midnight was no doubt working on one of her projects.

A small bell ringed as Gaze, Neptune, and Celeste entered the crowded shop, but they all knew that it wasn’t heard over the loud buzzing mixed with Firestone’s yells. Yet, Firestone’s voice trumped the buzzing sound, and they were able to hear her loud and clear.

“GET OVER HERE YOU COWARD! OR I’M TELLING YOU I WILL HIDE POISONOUS TOE-TICKLERS IN YOUR BED! I KNOW WHERE TO FIND THEM!”

The buzzing stopped, and Gaze heard small giggles echo around the room as Firestone marched into the so-called waiting area, which was more like two couches surrounded with clustered shelves. Suddenly, a short female Galaxy Pixie with a pixie cut floated out of a nearby shadow.

“Welcome to Midnight’s Moonrising Workshop,” She started. “I would like to apologize for the noise,” she glared at Firestone, “I am trying to work things out at the moment. But otherwise, would you like to list a device you might have in mind. Or just look around?” She glanced up, and, noticing Gaze Celeste and Neptune, smiled. “Oh, hey guys! What brings you here?”

Midnight is a young adult with a big dream and a leader-like attitude. If something were to happen, she’s the girl with a plan. Midnight had always been short for her age, but to Gaze, what mattered about size? Her beautiful raven black pixie cut sparkled like the most priceless diamonds, and her violet Galaxy looked like it was meant to be. She wore a simple purple beanie with some rusty brown goggles she made, but to Gaze that just made her look all the more beautiful. She wore a lilac purple short-sleeved hoodie decorated with a lavender crescent moon on it, and a violet and black striped long-sleeve shirt underneath. She has lavender shorts that have a couple rips in it, and is decorated with a violet trim. Her legs are covered with nee-high violet socks with a black stripe in the middle, and lilac shoes with violet soles decorated with a small lavender bow completed her look. Her black raven wings shimmered like stars at the tips, and her wide, kind violet eyes showed youth. Midnight’s violet Galaxy means she’s a Shadow-Jumper, which is someone who has the ability to travel from shadow to shadow. One of the oldest Shadow-Jumpers known alive in the world of Myth once said, “Where you see a shadow, I see an exit.”

Unlike how humans have a limited lifespan, a Pixie’s lifespan goes on for ever. It is believed that they die of age eventually, but there hasn’t been any known Pixies who have died from age yet. Their body grows and changes until they reach adulthood, that is when their body stops growing.

“Oh, we aren’t interested in buying anything right now,” Neptune said, “Although that contraption does look pretty neat over there,” He added mostly to himself. “Me and Celeste have something special over at Celeste’s house, so we’re rounding up everyone!”

“Oh, ok… I guess I can find out something to do about this.” She waved her arms around the room they were sitting in. “You guys do realize I can’t just close the shop and do stuff with you guys as I please, I have a job now.”

Everyone nodded their heads. It had only been a month since Midnight opened her shop, and everyone was still getting used to the fact that she wouldn’t be able to do as much stuff with them. Midnight had told Gaze once that it was her life long dream to open up a workshop, even if she wasn’t a Gear-turner. But Gear-Turner or not, Midnight was really talented, and was defiantly the tech-savvy girl in their group. Plus, her mother was a Gear-Turner, and taught Midnight everything she knew.

“Helloooo,” Firestone said, waving her arms around, “I think you’re forgetting about someone!!” Suddenly, everyone was able to hear small whispering sounds next to Firestone, and her face turned red with annoyance and rage.

“GET OVER HERE YOU- YOU!” Firestone screamed with frustration as she tried, and failed, to grab what seemed like the air around her.

Gaze couldn’t help smiling, and he could tell Celeste was trying to hold back a giggle. Their hot-headed friend was just one big teasing magnet.

Firestone is competitive, and no doubt loud. She has also always been known as a hot-head. But that’s not the reason she was named Firestone. Firestone is a Galaxy pixie. But she is known to have the rare power of fire. As you could imagine, she can create fire, walk through fire, and call it to her hand if there is fire around her. Firestone still has the star-like dots in her bob hairstyle, but she has no black. Instead, she has an ombre affect that fades from red to orange to yellow. Firestone wore a sleeveless dress with with a hot pink skirt, and a yellow top. The skirt has a waistline with a zig-zag pattern in the middle of it, an orange color on the bottom and yellow on the top, and a yellow trim. Above the dress she wore a short hot pink collarless jacket. Hot pink and yellow lace-ups with light grey soles completed her look. Firestone has wings that look very much like fire, but if you touch them, you will realize that they are not. Firestone’s fiery ombre eyes the same colors as her hair darted around the room, searching for any sight of, someone…

Although there is known to be the normal pixies with the normal powers, there is also a group of pixies called The Rare Powered Pixies, or another name is the Elemental Pixies, but they are normally just called the Rare Powered Pixies. They are called “Rare,” but they are more like “Legendary.” There is only ever one Rare Powered Pixie for each rare power, think of them as a cymbal for each element known in Myth. If one of the rare powered pixies were to ever die, another would be born, but there is never two pixies with the same rare power.

Gaze sighed, he knew he should probably help his friend, so he waited to hear something. The flap of wings, the creak of wood. Then he heard one of the wooden boards next to him creak, and he leapt into action. He awkwardly turned around, grabbing the invisible person’s arm before they could fly to a different part of the room.

“Oh no,” A voice said in a sarcastic way, “I’ve been caught. Now I must fear the wrath of Firestone.” Then the air next to Gaze started fading away, and a smirking Crystal appeared next to him, her bangs covering one side of her face not in the least bit hiding her smugness.

Crystal is a young adult Galaxy pixie with a nag for mischief. She is known to hide lots of secrets, and the fact that she is a Dissapearer -the Galaxy color is lavender- and a Mind Reader -the Galaxy color is pink- makes her extremely annoying. Crystal has very long black hair with a lavender and pink galaxy tied in a loose ponytail that reaches down below her knees, two shorter strands of hair that reaches below her neck hang in her face, the right side covers half her face. She wore a loose violet and white striped long-sleeve shirt with a black tank top underneath, showing her simple style. Light teal finger-less gloves are her only accessory, and black rain shoe-like boots with lavender soles complete her look. She has wide wings the same colors as her hair that dip in at the ends like a crescent moon, and pink, teasing eyes.

“Crystal, could you maybe try to give Firestone a break? How would you feel if you were teased like, five times a day?” Neptune asked.

Sadly, Gaze already knew from the millions of times Neptune had said that that it wouldn’t work.

“Aahh, see but then you’ll miss the entertainment,” She answered, walking over to the exit. Then she added, “Plus, I keep all the excitement coming.”

“Hey! I’m not done with you!!!” Firestone yelled, running over to Crystal.

But Crystal had already disappeared, her body no longer visible as she left the workshop. “YOU JUST WAIT!” Firestone continued, yelling through the door and making half the crowd turn their heads. Firestone ignored them. “SOMEDAY THERE WILL BE A RULE ABOUT PLUCKING SECRETS FROM OUR BRAINS! YOU’LL BE SORRY!”

Gaze sighed, a small, yet sad sigh. He always wondered if Crystal would ever come to the conclusion that most people don’t want her poking inside their heads, but she did it anyway. And their Queen, Queen Nettaria, never liked rules, so she never said that there was anything wrong with Crystal reading Pixie’s thoughts, probably because it never happened to her.

Gaze was about to say something, when suddenly the ground started shaking, it was quiet, and not very strong, but it was. When it got louder, Firestone said "Could someone go out there and tell the Wood Pixies to slow down the roots, they don’t need to make that much houses.” The rumbling continued, and when it got louder still, Firestone added, “Maybe the Queen got picky and wanted a new Palace?” But Gaze knew it was something else. Something big.

Suddenly, when they all ran outside, they heard a Wood pixie scream.

“Stamped of Alcahorns!! They’re coming strait towards us!!”
